CHESAPEAKE LOVERS.COM
Welcome To Chesapeake Lovers.Com!
Chesapeake comes from a Native American  word meaning:
"The Great Shellfish Bay"

This site is dedicated to the Chesapeake Bay and it's tributaries. From Captain John Smith's discovery of the bay in 1607 to the present. This bay has captivated many of the people who live in around or visit it. Our goal is to bring you photos, news, events, seafood recipes, and even restaurant reviews. When the site is running smooth we'll accept pictures from residents and tourists.
                            Sincerely,

As always SAVE THE BAY!

Please leave the bay in better shape than you found it. Don't forget to use designated pump out stations.

Captain Slab's Hot Crab Dip

Ingredients:

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter

2 teaspoons of garlic powder

1/2 cup of light whipping cream

2  tablespoons OLD BAY® Seasoning

2 tablespoons of parsley flakes

1 pound lump crabmeat

3 tablespoons dry sherry or cooking sherry (optional)

2 teaspoons of chives

1 package (12 oz.) of WisPride spreadable Sharp Cheddar Cheese.

1 package (8 0z.) of cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup of bacon bits (optional)

1/2 of a green pepper, diced

Directions:

Melt butter in 3-quart saucepan on medium heat. Add lump crabmeat and spices including the sherry. Cook for ten minutes.

In an oven-proof mixing bowl add the WisPride sharp cheddar and cream cheese. Use your mixer on it's highest setting and mix the two. While mixing add the light whipping cream and diced green pepper. Mix until smooth, careful not to make dip too thin with the whipping cream.

Add the crabmeat mixture to the other ingredients in mixing bowl. Then mix all together. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. When ready place dip in oven for ten minutes. You can also sprinkle shredded cheddar on top for extra cheesiness. Serve with crackers, toasted bread points, or even over rice.
